VÉRONIQUE TERRIEUX

In Véronique Terrieux’s ink paintings, which the artist describes as existing on the edge of dusk and dawn, I’ve discovered an escape. Hers is a primal world, unsullied and unburdened by the arrogance of humans, and there is peace to be found in its soft violet hazes and black velvet depths. With gorgeous economy, Terrieux describes night dissolving and being born anew and the mysteries shrouding this perpetual cycle. Look closely and you might hear clouds gliding and matter crystallizing, or maybe even memories coming into focus. Look and you will be reminded of why there is nothing quite like the thrill of being caught between two realms, of being on the threshold of something too great to fathom.
